Getting Started

Signing In

How to sign in, set up your account the first time, and what to do if you can't get in.

ForEveryone

Wattle Clinic runs in your web browser — there's nothing to install. You can use Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. If a step looks different on your screen, that's usually because your clinic has been set up a little differently.

Wattle keeps your patients' and clients' information private, so it asks you to sign in first. Sign-in is handled by a trusted service called Kinde: when you sign in, the app sends you over to Kinde to check your email and password, then brings you straight back. If your clinic uses Google sign-in (single sign-on), you can use that on the Kinde screen instead of a password.

Usually: everyone, every day.

Quick version — Go to the app, click Sign In, authenticate with Kinde, you're in.

Step by step

  1. Open Wattle Clinic in your web browser. If you're not signed in, you'll land on the login page (you can also go straight to /login).
  2. Click the Sign In button.
  3. You'll be taken to the Kinde sign-in screen. Enter your email and password (or use single sign-on if your clinic uses one).
  4. After Kinde checks your details, you're brought back to the clinic.
  5. You may see a Loading... spinner for a moment while the app checks who you are. This is normal — please wait, and don't close the tab.

If something looks wrong

  • The Sign In button is greyed out with an error message → Sign-in hasn't been switched on for your clinic yet. This is a setup issue, not something you did. Ask whoever set up your clinic to finish configuring it.
  • The spinner seems stuck → The app is still checking your session. Give it a few seconds — the first sign-in of the day can take a little longer. Don't close or refresh the tab while it's working.
  • You land on a setup wizard instead of the dashboard → That's onboarding, and it only happens the very first time. See Set up your account the first time below.

Create an account

Usually: a new staff member joining the clinic.

Quick version — Login page → Create Account → complete Kinde signup → finish onboarding.

Step by step

  1. Open the app, or go to /login.
  2. Click the Create Account button.
  3. On Kinde's signup screen, fill in your email, choose a password, and enter your name.
  4. You'll come back to the clinic, where the first time you'll be guided through a short setup — see the next section.

No Create Account button? Some clinics only allow accounts created by an administrator. If so, ask whoever set up your clinic to add you.

Set up your account the first time

Usually: every new user, just once.

The very first time you sign in, the app notices you don't have a clinic profile yet and sends you to a short setup wizard at /onboarding. It only runs once.

Step by step

  1. Sign in for the first time.
  2. The app automatically takes you to the onboarding wizard.
  3. Work through the steps: About You (your name and role), then Get Started (whether you're setting up a new clinic or joining one), then either Clinic Details (if you're creating a clinic — typically the owner) or Invite Code (if you're joining an existing clinic as staff). It only takes a few minutes.
  4. When you finish, one last thing: a Set your PIN window asks you to choose a 4-digit PIN (type it twice, click Set PIN — five seconds). This PIN unlocks the screen after inactivity and signs off controlled-drug register entries. See Your PIN & the lock screen.
  5. You're taken to the dashboard and you're ready to go.

Two different "Getting Started" things — don't get them mixed up. The Onboarding Wizard runs once after your first login and must be completed. The Getting Started checklist (a small pop-up you can open from your avatar menu) is optional progress tracking you can dismiss with Skip for now.

Can't sign in?

  • Forgot your password? You don't need to be signed in. Click Sign In, then use the Forgot password? link on the Kinde login screen. You'll receive a reset link by email.
  • Invite code won't work? Ask your clinic owner or admin to check it hasn't expired, and to resend it if needed.
  • Need to change your email, password or other account details once you're in? Open your avatar menu (top-right) → Account. To reset a password from inside the app, use Change password there (it signs you out and sends you to Kinde's reset page).

Log out

Usually: everyone, especially on shared computers.

Quick version — Avatar (top-right) → Log out.

Before you log out: save any work in progress. Logging out clears all clinic information from this device for security, so anything unsaved may be lost.

Logging out is a good habit on a shared front-desk computer — it keeps patient and client details safe between users.

The app also protects itself. If a signed-in computer sits untouched for a while, Wattle locks the screen behind a 4-digit PIN — you stay signed in and pick up exactly where you left off. The first time you sign in you'll be asked to set that PIN. Full story: Your PIN & the lock screen.
