Getting Started

Signing In

How to sign in, set up your account the first time, and what to do if you can't get in.

ForEveryone

Wattle runs in your web browser - nothing to install. Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge all work.

Sign-in is handled by a trusted service called Kinde: the app sends you to Kinde to check your email and password, then brings you straight back. If your clinic uses Google sign-in, use that on the Kinde screen instead.

Common tasks

I want to...Do this
Sign inOpen the app → Sign In → your email and password on the Kinde screen
Create an accountOpen your invitation email → its link → Create Account → complete the Kinde signup
Reset a forgotten passwordSign InForgot password? on the Kinde screen. No need to be signed in
Change your details once you're inAvatar → Account
Change your password from insideAccount → Change password. It signs you out first
Log outAvatar → Log out

A Loading... spinner after you come back from Kinde is normal - the app is checking who you are. Don't close the tab.

Your first sign-in

The first time, the app notices you have no clinic profile yet and sends you to a short setup wizard. It only runs once.

  1. About you - your name and role.
  2. Then one of two screens, depending on the invitation you arrived with:
    • Create your clinic - your practice details. This is the owner starting a new clinic.
    • Join a clinic - paste the invite code a colleague sent you.
  3. A Set your PIN window - type 4 digits twice. This unlocks the screen after a period of inactivity. See Your PIN.

Your invitation decides which of those two you get, so you won't be asked to choose. (A How would you like to get started? step exists for anyone who arrives without an invitation, but during the invite-only beta almost nobody sees it.)

Two different "Getting Started" things. The Onboarding Wizard runs once after your first login and must be completed. The Getting Started checklist - the panel behind the rocket button at the bottom-right - is optional progress tracking you can dismiss with Skip for now, and bring back from avatar → Getting started.

The full first-run walkthrough is in The complete setup.

Logging out

Save any work first. Logging out clears all clinic information from the device for security, so anything unsaved may be lost.

It's a good habit on a shared front-desk computer. In between, the app also protects itself - a signed-in computer left untouched locks behind your PIN, keeping you signed in so you pick up exactly where you left off.

Gotchas

  • A greyed-out Sign In button with an error means sign-in hasn't been switched on for your clinic yet. That's a setup issue, not you.
  • A spinner that seems stuck - give it a few seconds. The first sign-in of the day takes longer. Don't refresh while it's working.
  • Landing on a setup wizard instead of the dashboard is onboarding, and only happens once.
  • No Create Account button? That's expected. Wattle Clinic is invite-only during the beta, so the button only appears when you arrive through an invitation link. Start from your invitation email, or use Request access on the login page.
  • Signed in, but a page says Wattle Clinic is invite-only? Your account exists, there just isn't an invitation attached to it yet. Nothing is lost - use Request access on that page and we'll email your invitation.
  • An invite code that won't work may have expired. Ask your clinic owner to resend it.
