Keyboard Shortcuts
Optional keyboard shortcuts for power users - the command palette, save, print, and close-anything keys.
Completely optional - everything here can also be done with the mouse. If shortcuts aren't your thing, skip this page.
⌘ is the Command key on a Mac. On Windows or Linux, use Ctrl instead.

The command palette (⌘K)
The one worth learning. A single box that jumps anywhere, runs common actions, and finds any patient or client - without touching the mouse. You can also open it by clicking Search & Command in the top bar.
What you can do in it:
- Jump to a feature - type
patients,schedule,billingand press Enter. - Run a quick action -
New Patient,New Client,New Appointment,New Invoice, under a Quick Actions group. New Patient, New Client and New Invoice open the create form; New Appointment takes you to the Schedule, where you add it. - Find a patient or client - type a name, or for patients a species or breed, or for clients an email or phone. Results appear live.
- Include inactive records - a toggle at the bottom, for deceased or archived patients.
It needs at least two characters before it searches patients and clients. Feature names and quick actions appear straight away.
Only the first few matches show. If a patient you know exists isn't there, type more, turn on include inactive, or open the full Patients page.
⌘P is your browser's, not Wattle's
It opens your browser's print window for whatever page you're on, and from there you can "Save as PDF". For invoices, estimates and statements, prefer the on-screen Print button - it gives a tidier, business-ready layout. See Printing & PDFs.
Esc closes anything
Pop-up windows (dialogs) and side-sliding panels (sheets) all close with Esc. So does clicking the X, or the dimmed area outside. Nothing is saved or sent just by closing - it's a safe way to back out.
